It’s obvious from first glance that these paper birds aren’t your average construction paper creations. Colombian artist Diana Herrera has created an amazing series of bird sculptures, going so far as to sculpt every last feather out of paper. Each sculpture is incredibly detailed and reflects “the chillingly disengaged relationship between humans and nature in modern society.”
Herrera has created dozens of birds of both South American and North American species for conservation and garden groups. The attention to the bird’s feathers and patterns is something the artist prides herself on. “I worked really hard to get them as accurate as possible as it was very important for me that the viewers could get a real experience by looking at those life-like birds.”
Mission accomplished. They look like they’re practically ready to take flight. Check out more of the artist’s work at her website or Flickr photo stream.
