For Aspiring Dancers There’s No Other Place That Compares to the NYC Ballet

“Performing is why we put in all the work. It’s a whole mixture of emotions,” says ballet dancer Teresa Reichlen. AOL’s new mini documentary series focuses on the unstoppable drive that pushes aspiring ballet dancers to reach for a spot on the world famous New York City Ballet.

Sarah Jessica Parker, a board member of the New York City Ballet, is the executive producer of the just launched original series. While other series strain to squeeze out reality TV type drama in the ballet world, this series focuses more on the journey that is individual to each dancer and the stories they have to tell.

The dancers and choreographers share their stories of practicing every day for years on end, sacrificing childhood events, and the nerves that come in that hour leading up to showtime. “We create the pressure, because I want to live up to what my own heart and my own mind feels about the ballet,” says dancer Amar Ramasar.
