You could say that the New Orleans’ House of Blues had a bit of a hairy situation last month. The venue played host to the 2013 National Beard and Moustache Championships, welcoming facial hair aficionados from around the globe.
Beard and mustache or “moustache” if you like to be fancy, competitions have gained in popularity in recent years, sprouting up throughout the United States. The trend has received so much growth (alright finished with the puns, promise) that it’s even been the subject of reality TV shows like Whisker Wars.
Photographer Greg Anderson was on board to shoot photos of the scene and snapped more than 2,500 shots of the bearded gathering. Anderson plans to use some of his photos for a calender and book of the event and has already scored a gig as the official photographer for the 2014 championship in Portland, Oregon. Big hairy deal!
